Australian Farming Services (AFS) was established in 2017 and is privately-owned by institutional investment managers from Australia and the US.
AFS focused solely on almond orchard developments for three years up to 2020. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, a concern about the lack of almond processing capacity in the Australian industry caused the business to delay further development into other areas.
As the world reopened and industries recovered in 2021, AFS made a strategic decision to develop a vertical supply chain and to invest in almond processing. Work commenced on Murray Downs Processing in April 2023, an almond hulling, shelling and processing facility situated near Murray Downs in New South Wales.

AFS is an institutional management company that operates across the almond value chain. Our almonds are grown from three orchards in New South Wales and Victoria, and are then delivered to our leading-edge almond processor. AFS almonds are later shipped and sold across the world.

Our Team
David Armstrong
Chief Executive Officer
David joined AFS at the start of 2019 with a long history in agriculture and specifically in the development and management of large-scale investments.
Josh Forster
Orchards Regional Manager
Josh has been with AFS since 2018, initially as an orchard Farm Manager and in 2022 being promoted to Regional Manager. Josh has been on a farm since he left school, picking grapes, driving almond orchard equipment and progressively taking on increased management responsibility.
Craig Davey
Processing Manager
Craig’s journey in food processing began after completing his university degree, leading him through various senior roles in dairy, egg, and pastry processing. Armed with his passion for Lean manufacturing, he now serves as the Almond Processing Manager, assembling a fresh team for an innovative processing plant.
