Canally Orchard

NSW / 1,986HA / 710,000 Almond Trees

Canally supports more than 710,000 almond trees; the largest number of trees among all three orchards.

Canally, the youngest of the three orchards has the largest tree population due to the nature of the planting space, designed to take maximum advantage of efficient land and water use.

Canally is also unique in that its irrigation can be drawn from either the Murray or Murrumbidgee rivers due to its geographical location.

Key features

Located in NSW, south of Balranald, Canally is located on the confluence of the Murray and Murrumbidgee Rivers.

Canally is a large orchard at just under 2,000ha, and has two irrigation systems: river pumps and dams. The two major rivers bordering the property, ensures that its high tree volume is well supported by a stable water supply.

The orchard has been forced to operate off-grid due to its remote location and generators are currently used to power the irrigation, however a solar and battery microgrid will be installed in 2024 and will supply over 85% of the orchard’s power requirements.
